The Stanwell "51" is a slender Danish-style Billiard, perfect for those partial to a lighter, more graceful briar. Unlike its twin, the "51M", the "51" forgoes a brass military mount and push stem in favor of the simpler, continuous lines of a straight shank-to-tenon arrangement. The softened curve of heel and transition are archetypes of Danish shaping, and for good reason. As a pipe such as this proves, their effect on a composition is every bit as pleasing as it is distinctive.
