Smooth Dublin with Bamboo Tobacco Pipe

Hiroyuki Tokutomi begins this masterpiece with an undulating plateau rim that has a subtle rise to the right, and spill on the left front. It is the rise that creates a cool visual trick, making the bowl seem to arc to the left, as it trails to the heel. The line of the bamboo and bit seems playful, naturally inspired, and yet maintains enough familiarity of form that it serves as a type of visual anchor, for the wilder bowl.
