I would argue that the Poker is one of the most utilitarian shapes. The smoking qualities are excellent partially because the cylindrical shape allows for uniform thickness of the chamber walls all the way down the bowl, thus ensuring an even heat dissipation and burn as you smoke. A proper Poker, in my opinion, really should be a sitter and let's face it; the convenience of being able to set down your pipe without the worry of spilling ash and ember is invaluable. Tsuge has taken the already practical design a step further by adding a metal rim cap to protect the briar from charring, a metal base to shield the sitter from scratches, and a metal military mount so that the pipe may be broken-down while still warm. Overall it is a brilliant design that is one of the most functional I have seen, and it just plain looks cool!
