The Mizuki "943" Freehand is a wonderfully organic and flowing composition. Utilizing only "plateau" briar for the series, it seems that killer grain is the norm, and this example certainly holds up. The ripples of ring grain begin directly at the heel and climb uniformly terminating in a gnarly plateau crown of a rim. The fine sandblast, paired with a contrast stain, preserves some subtle flame grain as well. The shape itself is reminiscent of a bent Dublin with slight triangular paneling. Lightweight and equipped with a very comfortable stem, the Mizuki line represents a truly incredible value.
