Sandblasted Poker

Product Number: 002-560-0033

If Werner Mummert's square-shanked and paneled versions of this theme are Cubist, does that make this rounded rendition "Cylinderist"? I haven't the faintest, but the lack of sharp edges certainly doesn't make it any less bold or daring. How many artisan pipemakers would take the risk of going as far "out there" as it took to create these modern-form, primary-color-saturated briars? Is it art? Well, it's obviously art-inspired, to be sure, with Gerrit Rietveld's "Red and Blue Chair" being a likely suspect for the inspiration. But it's also a pipe, too, and that aspect has not been neglected; it sits solid, it's as simple and easy in hand as any more traditional Poker, and drilling is all spot-on. If it is art, it is art you can smoke, which is certainly more than can be said for most.
