Poul Winslow is quite adamant in making it clear to potential customers that his grading system is strictly a matter of grain quality and the materials used in any additional trim (bands, ferrules, etc.), and doe snot dictate the care taken in carving and shaping the briar itself. Looking upon and handling this "Viking", his most basic grade of pipe, one cannot help but believe his compulsion to make such statements can only be a product of the same fastidious and diligent character that produces such consistently fine briars. The care given to seeing that this "lowly" Viking bent Apple has resulted in a shape as unique and finely-formed as Mr. Winslow deemed fitting to carry his name.
