Poul's Crown series pipes are by no means Winslow seconds, but they are quality designs at affordable prices. By using less expensive briar and preformed mouthpieces, he can offer up his unique designs and quality shaping for the price of a factory turned pipe. This particular Crown takes the form of a Danish bent Egg complete with Poul's signature asymmetry. Off-centered sharp lines run down the bowl almost framing the rather fleshy partial rustication that covers the left flank and heel. It's paired with a high-contrast smooth orange-and-mahogany stain and jet-black acrylic stem. This unique finish provides plenty of textural balance in hand for an interesting and thought provoking smoke.
