This is the first review I've ever made on this site. I was compelled to do so. Commodore flake is a marvel of impeccable balance, stupendous flavor and sumptuous smoking style. I smoked this in my Peterson Christmas billiard; my standard Latakia pipe. Forget our the tin. Dry this stuff to a crisp. The flavors present themselves stunningly; dark cherries married with smoky campfire, pine and old boot. The smoke is thick, creamy and oh so easy on the retrohale, despite the little kick of vitamin N. This stuff has ensnared me completely. I grab it for my evening smokes more than 1792 flake or bayou night (two other great night time smokes) I will buy more tins of this. I never want to be without this blend again. There's a topping on this which is very reminiscent of Revor Plug (an odd whiff of blueberries or slows) it gives it a bit of a perfumed or an incense/spice quality but it's savoury, not sweet. It is identical to Robert McConnell's Latakia Flake but I suspect the Latakia content is far lower than advertised and the KY is higher with quite a chunk of high quality cavendished tobacco which adds to the creaminess of this smoke. As a seasoned Islay scotch drinker, I look for tobacco blends that can keep pace with the palate. Commodore Flake isn't an overwhelming tower of smoke, but it is extremely flavorful with a salty allure. I highly recommend it!

Beautiful tin note aromatic like, smells of fermented fruit, moist dark flakes. This smokes very well Latakia plays a good role as does the burley without one playing center stage. A good amount of nicotine, Leaves a nice sweet aftertaste. Buying more.
