While the inspiration for the Kiribi shapes all hail directly from the zenith of Art Deco, the Kabuto also incorporates an homage to this tradition within the gesture of the wing-like cap toggle — a direct reference to the fukigaeshi (crescent like wings on the side of the kabuto)

Really good quality and useful pipe lighter. Very similar to IM Corona Old Boy but without the tamper. I feel like this might be slightly lighter than an Old Boy too. I never liked the Old Boy tamper (much prefer a Czech tool) and the Kiribi holds more fuel--fuel fills last a really long time. So this is better IMO. It's hard to imagine a more reliable lighter than this one. It rarely fails to strike, it has the best wind resistance you can ask for in a butane lighter, the hardware works well, on top of making a very pleasing sound when you open and close it, it's heavy in the hand and feels very premium. I personally think these lighters are a better choice than an old boy because they have a 30% larger tank. The pipe tool that comes in an old boy lighter is an inferior one to pretty much any other pipe tool you can find, so there's no significant value added there. Kiribi makes a muc better choice and gives you a larger tank, which means you are far less likely to run out of fuel on a trip or something like that. AND it's it's about half the price of the cheapest Old Boy. I rest my case....Read More

I purchased this lighter based on all the great reviews but when I received mine it worked for a couple days pretty good and after that it just would not light, I tried different butane but had the same results, so I sent it in for repair here at smokin pipes. I got the lighter back after repair and again it worked for only a couple days before returning to crap again. So I either got a dud or it’s just not that good. My $20 zippo lights on the 2nd time always if not the first so I can’t recommend this lighter...Read More
