Stands & Pouches: Peterson Avoca 1 Pipe Combo

Virtually identical to the Rattray’s Black Knight 1 pipe bag. The inside is stitched to the general contours if a pipe, so you are limited to the variety of pipes that will fit in there. Not a dealbreaker but just something you should be conscious of before pulling the trigger.

Good quality bag, nice leather. Almost identical in materials and design to Rattray’s bags, which is a very good thing.

This is a very well made pouch, however, it will only accommodate only very small pipes.

Quality is good, just to small for pipes unless your into nose warmers, get the larger Peterson pipe pouch that is less expensive, its great.

This turned out to be the pouch I was afraid I'd end up with. Flimsy, with a really unpleasant texture. The lining is serviceable, and the closures are functional. The Peterson emblem was a dumb idea, begging to get caught in everything, but it fell off promptly. Keep looking.

This pouch is awesome. The pictures do not do the subtle green leather justice. Just enough to have character but does not stand out as obnoxious. My pipe fits in it a great (Peterson system spigot 307). It is a little snug but zips just fine and holds it tightly. The inside zipper fits a 3 tool and a zippo no problem. As a gift the box/presentation is very nice. It’s nicely made but the zippers feel like you’ll want to be careful. Nice soft (fairly thin) leather. My 321 dolomiti fits with enough room for a few pipe cleaners. This is more for “gramp size” smaller billiards or shorter pots. If you like bent pipes of any size keep looking...this is not for you. The tobacco pouch is nice. The accessory pouch is adequate. I wanted a small pouch that combined tobacco and pipe duty with minimal size and this does that...but you are very limited on pipe size...even a full sized beefy billiard will not fit. It’s a nice pouch...if you tote a smaller pipe it’s nice enough. If you are buying one as a gift get the 2 pipe...I’m guessing it would fit one bigger or bent pipe or two small pipes from this one. You can fit a 673 in it or a smaller bulldog but it’s tighter than you’ll probably like in this one. If the 321 Dolomiti didn’t happen to be one of my favorite travel pipes I’d have sent it back. Good quality...but very limited on pipe fit. A larger internal divider flap would do this model a world of good....Read More

Buttery soft leather and practical features make Peterson pipe pouches best in class. I have several different ones. The "latex on latex" design of the tobacco pouch keeps your leaf moist. This Avoca design is good -- it's mostly just aesthetic, not drastically different from the regular pouch design -- but I honestly am not in love with the magnetic fasteners on this vs the standard snaps on the regular Peterson pouches. Once the magnets are engaged the flap on the pouch stays securely fastened, but getting the snaps to line up is finicky, especially in low-light situations. The decorative zipper pull is also a bit much and can get snagged on other stuff if you put this pouch in a backpack etc. Despite these minor gripes -- for which I deduct half a star -- I love this pouch and use it regularly....Read More
