Pipe Tools & Supplies: Brigham Rock Maple Inserts (8 Pack)

Product Number: 001-545-0010

Beginning in 1937, Roy and Herb Brigham sought a way to eliminate tongue-bite, and coming to the conclusion that it was caused not by heat alone, but also by acids and tars in the smoke itself, sought to discover the perfect material for a smooth-drawing, unobtrusive, yet effective filter. After considerable experimentation they came up with two ideal materials - bamboo, and, much more readily available, rock maple.

With your Brigham pipe the filter can be used approximately 20-30 times with a dark brown filter indicating that its time to replace it (see below) and can also be cleaned, dried and re-used in a pinch. The rock maple filter uses no adhesives and can pass a pipe cleaner.

Good system. Pipes are apparently not as good as they used to be but I like mine all the same. You do not need to use this filter system if you do not want to, it’s up to you.

Just the ticket to keep your Brigham pipe cool and dry smoking make sure you let the filter dry completely before smoking again. I don’t find it strict the flow much every pipe smokes differently but I don’t feel has though this filter hinders the dr... Read More

Product: Pipe Tools & Supplies Brigham Rock Maple Inserts (8 Pack)
The inside diameter of the insert is too small.Needs to be same as a normal smoke channel.I think the Savinelli balsa system is better. The Brigham pipe seems to be a solid, well made utensil, however.
Exactly what I was looking for!

Product: Pipe Tools & Supplies Brigham Rock Maple Inserts (8 Pack)
Works great in all of the pipes I have tried them in, from multiple cobs to a couple 9mm cheap estate pipe I use to test new tobaccos. I did have to get creative with the 9mm (trim it and jam it) but it works great no less! No complaints what so ever... Read More

Product: Pipe Tools & Supplies Brigham Rock Maple Inserts (8 Pack)
I am not a fan of filters but I do like this one. I have tried many filters (charcoal, balsa wood, etc..) and I find the maple rock to be the best. Although it does seems to add it's own flavor to some tobaccos. Easy to clean.

Product: Pipe Tools & Supplies Brigham Rock Maple Inserts (8 Pack)
I hate using filters but this is the only one I will use. The Brigham rock maple filter absorbs moisture, not full tobacco flavor. They work great in my 3 dot Brigham Mountaineer 316.
Great system!

Product: Pipe Tools & Supplies Brigham Rock Maple Inserts (8 Pack)
Ever since I wrote my original review, I have gotten a Brigham 84 Heritage and it works just great, no gurgles and yes the filter no only eliminates gurgles but also ads a distinctive flavor to certain blends.

Product: Pipe Tools & Supplies Brigham Rock Maple Inserts (8 Pack)
Even with a dry tobacco these filters soak up a lot of moisture, and if you do wind up with a gurgle they'll still accommodate a pipe cleaner. A soak in rubbing alcohol will clean them up very nicely.
good choice

I used them on a chacom straight canadian and the whole new experience, will do more and actually thinking of getting a Brighman Pipe to have the whole thing altogether.
