A rubber cover for the end of the stem, to prevent stem damage. Some people find these easier to grip and more comfortable than acrylic or vulcanite stems, especially while driving.

Just got these today, put 1 on my favorite pipe and it works like a charm. Now, I wear dentures and couldn't grip my pipe to well, but now, it's a snap, like when I had real teeth, and, these work lots better than rubber bands,which I used to use.

I often clench, and this thing makes the clenching more comfortable and relieves me from the fear of leaving tooth marks on an expensive pipe. Obviously, it tastes of rubber initially so slightly washing it before first use may help.

easy to use and fits almost every pipe I own. They slide on and off easy for cleaning which you can do with a bit of alcohol. The rubber is thick and helps hold it in your teeth while not actually chewing up you stem.

canite, I would chomp through those in no time. I quit pipe smoking altogether about 20 years ago but I recently picked up my pipes again as I realized I was missing something that the occasional cigar didn't even come close to providing. Now that I have gotten older and wiser and my jaws seem to have lost some of their bite strength, I started using this product and so far I'm pleased. I've gotten used to the texture and they are pretty comfortable. They sure as hell beat having a pipe with a slippery acrylic stem sliding around between your teeth. Now most of my pipes wear this product and so far so good. What the long term prognosis will be in terms of durability remains to be seen but they are cheap as dirt so who cares. Read Less

Over-priced. Go buy yourself a few feet of black (or clear) vinyl tubing from your local home improvement store, cut it to your desired length. Lasts a lot longer and saves $$$.

so tight it conforms perfectly to the stem and almost looks like part of the pipe. My stem is now protected, and is also less likely to slip out of my teeth and hit the ground.

In my opinion Bryco's are better quality but these are far from bad. Clean them with pipe sweetener or wintergreen alcohol before using and you won't get no rubber taste.

I love these bits. Every pipe I own has a rubber bit. im a clencher, and do not want to have to worry about damaging a pipe stem. I do not detect any smell or flavor from them, and they are comfortable, and soft to bite on.

These pipe bits are a must with acrylic stems. So much easier to clench using these. They do have a slightly rubbery taste the first few times you use them, but that dissipates quickly. I have one on every pipe I own.

the only downside is that these rubber bits suit stems with only slightly wider endings. clenching is more comfortable with these and you protect both your teeth and the stem of your pipe. 5*

So I like this bit.
It's made of rubber(I think) and fits nicely on most bits. But on wider fish tails like Dunhills it is a bit bummer to putting on and taking off. living minor rubber marks...I recommend pulling towards tenon in that case.

for a while, but I didn't like having to heat them on and I had to replace the tubing every month-or-so from my teeth wearing a hole in them. Plus, these are much cheaper than tubing. Win-win. So, now I've totally switched to these rubber bits. I'm a clencher and I do a large percentage of my smoking while driving and these have made life so much easier. I ended up buying them for all my pipes which helps protect the stems from chatter, and every new pipe I buy gets one. I'm not sure how long they last as I haven't had to replace one yet; once-a-year, maybe? I don't know. The point is they last a long while. Try them and see. I'm a softy convert, you may just like them too. UPDATE: One thing I've noticed is that these work best if slid on past the button and not left over the button as the picture shows. It's a lot less intrusive and more natural feeling on the pipe that way. For those that are wondering, these things stretch pretty far. I've been able to get them to fit everything from a Missouri Meerschaum Danish bit to a Savinelli 320 stem. Hope this helps. WARNING: I need to add a warning about using these with vulcanite/Ebonite stems. The softy bit completely blocks out sunlight. So while the rest of the exposed stem oxidizes, the portion under the bit wont. This can create a nightmare when trying to restore a stem back to it's original solid black luster. So while I stand by my review, I would not recommend them for vulcanized rubber stems. Most of my pipes have acrylic stems so I didn't know. great smoker with out costly repairs or replacements. Yes, they are rubber with a rubber taste, but if you wash with unscented dish soap before use, and wipe down with ethanol after each smoke, the rubber smell and taste diminishes after a few bowls. As long as you keep your tongue off it, it's not noticable at all. Read Less
