When you read reviews describing the new Perla del Mar as "smooth", believe them. How smooth? When I tried one myself, the smoke was so soft I was tempted to inhale - and did. Normally when it comes to cigars that's asking for trouble, and especially when there's Nicaraguan leaf at play, but this blend produced not even the slightest hint of sting or burn.
It isn't as bold or heavy of flavor as you'd typically expect from something with a Nicaraguan filler/binder combo, but then it isn't supposed to be. What it is, is a smoke like fine silk, with a rich substance, creamy, natural sweetness, and subtler, underlying hints of those darker Nicaraguan flavors.
When I first saw the cigar, i thought this smoke will be over in no time. However the Perla Del Mar produces an abundance of smoke through a smooth draw that will have you lightly puffing away for some time, wondering how it took you so long.
