ADVentura: La Llorona Corona Cigars

ADVentura Cigars is a collaborative project between Henderson Ventura, the co-master blender at Tabacalera William Henderson in the Dominican Republic, and Marcel Knobel, a Swiss cigar retailer, lounge owner, and sommelier, with help from Robert Caldwell of Caldwell Cigars. ADVentura's portfolio is centered around the theme of exploration, though more specifically seafaring exploration, with blends, bands, and designs based on famed navigators, pirate legends, and all manner of nautical escapades. ADVentura's blends are complex and refined, and each comes boxed in unique, stylized packaging which stays true to the brand's joyful sense of adventure.

The La Llorona cigar is named after an iconic and eponymous figure in Latin American folklore whose name translates into English as "The Weeping Woman." In the original myth, she is a vengeful spirit whose soul is said to wander in endless mourning, lamenting the deaths of the children she drowned while raging against her unfaithful spouse. For this cigar, ADVentura have invented a mythology of their own while retaining the character of the original; La Llorona roams the seas as a spirit enraged by the death of her children, exacting vengeance against pirates wherever she finds them. The cigar itself was originally released in 2022 and is exclusive to ADVentura's most valued retailers, comprising an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Dominican binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Originally released as a Robusto, this 6" x 44 Corona edition debuted in 2023.
