Caldwell Cigar Company: Long Live The King BAR-NONE Toro Cigars

Product Number: 007-763-0113

Caldwell's original Long Live the King cigar featured a Dominican Corojo wrapper and binder, with filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Nicaragua: all hand-rolled at William Ventura's El Maestro factory. The BAR-NONE, however, revises the iconic blend with a shift in production setting. Unfortunately, William Ventura's El Maestro factory burned down in 2022, necessitating Caldwell Cigar Company's search for a different blending location while the factory was rebuilt. The Long Live The King BAR-NONE arose out of this necessity, being blended at Francisco "Chico" Rivas' Manufactura Rivas factory in the Dominican Republic. The BAR-NONE is a Dominican puro that features a Cuban-seed wrapper and binder and an undisclosed filler blend, resulting in a full-bodied, spicy smoke.

Product: Caldwell Cigar Company Long Live The King BAR-NONE Toro
You’ll be greeted with nice notes of black pepper and chocolate in both the cold draw and the smoke, although the chocolate fades. Pepper and general minerality are the dominant notes, with pepper always at the front, but I get a pleasant pastry almond note now and then in the last third. It’s satisfying for what it is. It could use some aging in the humidor to mellow and gain character. At one point, I picked up an unpleasant note of young tobacco. The draw is good, the construction unreliable. I had to do a couple of minor touchups. Fine for the price if you have the ability to age it....Read More
