Camacho: ABA Gordo

Product Number: 007-013-0138

Barrel-aging is becoming a thing, when it comes to cigars. There are different ways for a cigar maker to approach this: finish whole sticks by giving them time in the barrels of choice, or blending in a component leaf that has been aged separately before rolling; arrange for barrel-notes to be powerful and up front, or work them in as an accenting element to the main body of a smoke.

For the American Barrel Aged, Camacho chose to barrel-finish only the Corojo component and to use that towards a "working in" effect. Though the labels of these sticks make them easy to spot, and they do read "Built Bold," the ABA's real boldness lies in the nature of the American Broadleaf, PA Maduro, and Honduran Corojo leafs used themselves, with the Kentucky bourbon barrels' contributions playing complement, rather than stealing the stage.
