Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust: Sobremesa Solita Red Cigars
Product Number: 007-856-0068
Dunbarton's Sobremesa literally translates to "over the table" from Spanish and refers to the Latino tradition of leisurely conversing around the table after a meal. In the words of the Nicaraguan brand's founder, Steve Saka (former president and CEO of Drew Estate), sobremesa "is the experience of lingering casually with family and friends in conversation, relaxing, drinking, smoking, and enjoying each other's company."
In honor of those times, Dunbarton debuted the Sobremesa cigar in 2015, the blend comprising Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania Broadleaf ligero fillers covered in a Mexican San Andrés binder and a Sungrown Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper. For 2024, Steve Saka revamped the line's packaging, and with this change, the original Sobremesa was redubbed the Sobremesa Solita, which translates into English as "little sun" in reference to the cigar's Sungrown wrapper. The Solita Red is a special edition of the Sobremesa Solita series whose blend is described as being stronger than the original, and it's presented in a singular 6.25 x 46 Grand Corona vitola. The Solita Red was blended specifically to replace the now-discontinued Sobremesa Cervantes Fino vitola, sharing the same dimensions and highlighting similarly nuanced notes of cocoa, cinnamon, and anise, though with added depth and a bouquet that Steve Sake describes as "superior."
