Luciano: Mas Igneus Short Robusto Cigars

Luciano cigars merge the blending and business prowess of Luciano Meirelles with the quality construction and production standards of Eradio Pichardo's factory in Nicaragua, representing the benefit of collaboration and testifying to Meirelles' partnership-focused mindset. Meirelles and Pichardo partnered in 2009, prioritizing a vertically integrated approach that includes tobacco farms in Nicaragua and Ecuador and the renowned reputation of the Tabacalera Pichardo.

Part cigar, part chemistry experiment, Luciano's Mas Igneus cigar debuted in 2022 and is named after a Spanish winery part-owned by Luciano Meirelles, head blender and co-founder of Luciano Cigars. The name means "House of Ignition" in Catalan, and the cigar was specifically blended to complement the Mas Igneus "M" wine. In 2021, the winery developed a special wine to pair with Luciano's The Dreamer cigar, but in the Mas Igneus, they've blended a cigar for a particular wine. The process went far beyond mere tasting notes though: Mereilles custom-adapted a chemistry kit, allowing him to select tobaccos with a pH level that harmonized with that of the "M" wine. It features a high-priming Ecuadorian Corojo '98 wrapper, a Brazilian binder, and Nicaraguan fillers, and while the Mas Igneus cigar was designed to pair with a specific wine, Mereilles assures that it's well complemented by other denser red wines with high tannin levels, such as a Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Shiraz, or Bordeaux. Both tobacco and wine are united in their unique terroir — the manner in which environmental factors affect a varietals flavor profile — and the Luciano Mas Igneus cigar is a delicious fusion of these joined pastimes.
