Robert Holt smoked his first cigar on July 5th, 1995, the day he retired from military service. While he appreciated that first smoke, it wasn't until years later, working in telecommunications in Latin America, that Holt truly fell in love with the people and the craft behind his newfound hobby.

While working in the Caribbean and Central America, Robert met many of the founders of today's thriving cigar industry. He witnessed and experienced their hard-working lifestyle, their dedication to the craft, and began to appreciate the simple enjoyment of winding down after a day's work with a cigar, cocktail, and friends. That appreciation, in turn, inspired him to devote himself full-time to the industry.

Partnering with the prestigious Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua, Robert and his wife, Sharon, started Southern Draw cigars, fusing his Southern roots with Nicaragua's rich tradition of cigar production. Holt chose the name specifically to illustrate the company's ideals: Southern culture combined with an effortless "draw" to represent well-crafted sticks. Through a foundation of family, faith, and fellowship, they promote a "culture of honor," one conversation and one cigar at a time.

Dedicated to integrity, consistency, and sustainability, each Southern Draw cigar is blended and handcrafted from Cuban-seed tobaccos in small, limited production batches by AJ Fernandez's talented team of torcedores and buncheros. This approach affords the brand superlative control over the entire production process, resulting in a diverse portfolio of cigars with excellent smoking qualities and a wide range of intriguing flavor profiles. Though relatively new to the market, Southern Draw has already received critical acclaim by Halfwheel and other notable cigar publications for superior sticks like the Rose of Sharon (named for Mrs. Holt herself), Jacob's Ladder, Firethorn, Kudzu, and others. Don't take our word for it, though. Try these premium sticks and experience that "culture of honor" firsthand today.
