Lemon Virginias, Smyrna and other Orientals, and Latakia are combined in Sutliff's Heavy English, which despite its name is rather lightly balanced as far as Latakia mixtures go — some even find it quite suitable as an "all day" type of smoke.
Despite the name, this English is nice. I liked the Latakia flavor, and the oriental added a nice spice to the taste. So this is a light english. Sweet, not harsh, not overwhelming in any way, but if you add some strong coffee, oh my God, it is perfect! I have joyfully smoked it every day for 2 weeks. The lemon Virginias make it special. I love English & Balkans that leave out the red Virginias. There's just something great that happens. It's a decent smoke but compared to Father Dempsey I was letdown. Especially for the namesake this is not a heavy English if anything this is better if your looking for a lighter English in my opinion.
And that's the name. Nothing "heavy" here. Actually, a pleasant medium-bodied English, with just enough Latakia to keep things interesting. This has become my "go to" English blend and is likely to remain so.
Sometimes it’s nice to smoke something that doesn’t stick to your tongue and palate, something that allows you to smoke bowl after bowl. That’s what you get with Heavy English. It straddles the fence between English and Balkan, burning coolly and mil... Read Moredly. Read Less
The quality of this blend convinces methat a lot of the tinned mixtures like Squadron Leader are over-rated. This bulk English is every bit as good, in my opinion, and a lot less expensive. If I have a bone to pick with this one, it is only the name. "Heavy" English seems wrong to me for this one. Perhaps Sutliff should find some as yet unused or hilarious English town name for this one, rather than trying to scare off lovers of lighter mixtures. How about "Squatney Mixture," (Spinal Tap reference) or (actual town name) "Bitchfield Blend." Read Less
This is a very pleasant smoke not only for its aroma but also for the taste. It is very floral with spice and a light nectar like sweetness from start to finish. This will go good with many different tea varieties to pair with.

Nothing special about this Tobacco. Nothing jumps out in flavor's. Pretty bland really. You can smell the Latakia, but you can also smell a heavy chemical odor as well. I wouldn't buy this again. Ever.
