An innovative take on the Virginia/Perique archetype, Anomalous is the fifth release in Sutliff's limited-edition Birds of a Feather line, a Signature Series developed by master blender Per Jensen. Anomalous is a cake-cut blend of tangy Red Virginias, Virginia-based Cavendish, and high-grade air-cured leaf, enhanced by Sutliff's proprietary "Katerini Perique." Instead of the traditional one-sucker leaf, Katerini Perique is made using sun-cured, small-leaf Orientals sourced from the Grecian mainland, which are then fermented following the Perique process. The result is a lighter, less spicy nod to the traditional Louisiana tobacco, offering a naturally sweet, rich bouquet of fruity notes that pair elegantly with the blend's flue- and air-cured components.

By being 3s across the board you'd expect this to hit heavier, like C&D'S Briar Fox. Instead, the strength sneaks in and the room note, while prominent, is entirely welcome. They picked a fitting bird for this tin.

Good Va/Per blend. I wish I had a lifetime supply. It is spicy like black pepper, and does develop darker notes with age.
