It would be nearly impossible to speak of the history of Barbados without mentioning rum. Many historians argue rum originated as a by product of sugar refining on the tiny island. The profitable refining industry, in turn, spawned magnificent plantations. Consequently, rum became a highly sought after trading commodity between Barbados, the American colonies, and Europe. George Washington allegedly demanded a hogshead of Barbados Rum, 64 gallons, to be served at his inauguration. Only the highest quality Barbados Rum is applied to a base of Burley, Virginia, and Black Cavendish.

Great tasting aromatic

I gave this 4.5 stars as I get a little different results in different pipes but certain pipes like my big bowl church warden and fishtail Peterson, I get a sweet and excellent flavor of some vanilla and rum. Some pipes the flavor isn’t quite as pronounced but it is still a good smoke. Out of about 50 or so aromatics this is definitely in my top 2-3. I would say if you like Molto Dolce you will probably like this as well. Little different flavor profile but definitely close cousins in sweetness and consistency. Little wet so you may want to dry some but I would rather smoke it wet to get as much of the topping flavor as possible though you may have to delight 2-3 times if smoking wet. This blend, which will be going away very soon, is one of my favorite rum aros. I'm going to miss it dearly, so I will be stocking up. If you've never had it, dont start getting it now, because most of Sutliff's blends are going away in 3 months and your heart will be broken.

Reminds me of rum cake. I recently tried "Peterson Connoisseur's Choice" and had that subtle hint of rum and loved it, so I wanted to try a more straight forward rum blend. This marriage of rum and tobacco is perfection to me and became my favorite aromatic type. I give this a 4.5 simply because of how sweet it is, I have to tone it down with fusing which isn't an issue for me personally since I do that frequently anyway. So I’m lighting up my first bowl of this. Not really knowing what to expect. First couple puffs, yeah, this good stuff. A coupe more puffs. . . Wait I’ve smoked this before, but I’ve never bought this before. Hmm, that’s when it hit me. Frog Morton’s Cellar. This is as close to that blend as I’ve smoked since the frogs demise. The pleasant whiff on opening the tin was nice, but the smoke-experience improves after airing the tobacco. Probably uses some additives to keep it moist longer, but that results in a not to pleasant taste and even feels a bit bitter, acrid.

Very wet out of the jar, so wet, I could not keep lit and ended up only smoking for maybe 5 min, flavor was good but mostly hot sweet air, maybe would be better if it stayed lit?

Funny thing, I can't drink rum. Too sickly sweet and headache-inducing. Instead, I drink this fine smoke on a weekly trip to the Carribean.
