The latest installment of Sutliff's celebrated Barrel Aged line, Crumble Kake Barrel Aged No. 3 is a traditional navy blend comprising mature Virginias, rich Burleys, and a hint of Black Cavendish — all aged for 10 months in a top-shelf bourbon barrel before being pressed and sliced into dense crumble cakes. This unique process marries the naturally sweet, tangy Virginias with the air-cured leaf's woodsy notes, enhancing the blend's inherent flavors of citrus and spice with hints of oak and vanilla and affording it a mature, aged character right out of the tin.

is medium and nic is mild to medium. Flavoring is mild, with notes of Bourbon. Flavoring mostly stays in the background. Taste is medium to full and very consistent, with notes of tart dark fruit, spices, peaty vegetation, zesty tangy citrus, wood, molasses, bread, fermented sour, floral, sugar, spicy, bitter nuts, slightly savory, acidic, a rich lemony background note, and a peppery retro. rich, flavourful. A little spice from the burley followed by the mellow Virginia, the Cavendish bring the finishing notes. overall a fine tobacco with sweet, scotch like notes of spice and old wood.

I usually smoke more Latakia heavy blends and this would not be a daily smoke but it is not bad at all. The Burley is up front and balanced with the sweetness of the Virginia and Cavendish. I imagine it will be quite pleasant after a few years in the cellar.
