Sutliff's Crumble Kake Barrel Aged No. 4 is the latest addition to the Barrel Aged Series and begins by hot pressing bold dark-fired Burley tobaccos, which are then married to a combination of mature air-dried and flue-cured Virginias, contributing a bright sweetness to the blend. The mixture is further aged in bourbon rye barrels for three months before being pressed and sliced into delicious old-fashioned crumble cakes. This unique process marries the naturally sweet, tangy Virginias with the dark-fired Burley's more robust notes, enhancing the blend's inherent flavors of citrus and spice with hints of smoke, and affording it a mature, aged character right out of the tin. Tin note of alcohol, vinegary and smoky fruit. Tobacco is a Krumble Kake of a marbled reddish brown and dark brown with a little black and tan. Moisture content is good. Some pipe smokers will want to dry it out a bit. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. Flavoring is mild, with notes of bourbon. Flavoring remains in the background and becomes sporadic at the 1/2-way point, Taste is medium and mostly consistent, with notes of peaty sour vegetation, wood, tart citrus, lemon grassy, herbal floral, toasted bread, rich dry dirt, spices, slightly bitter, mildly spicy, a mild smoky semi-sweet nutty background note, and a peppery retro. Was so fresh I let it sit for a bit. Smoked 2 bowls, and thought I was going to get some bite,do to the moisture, didn't happen 🙃. Letting it age about a couple of weeks. Blended this with a couple of other baccies to assist in drying it up a little and stretch it out.

Tin note is delightful and enticing. The cut is very good and loads easily in my pipe. The flavor and well rounded balance is one of the best. Smokes easily. Got 2 extra tins to let age, see how it develops. Hope to see it in revision No. 5 in 2023

Tin note is enticing. Cut is easy to load. Flavor starts off great and gets better, which impressed me. Burley, DFK, Va flavors meld and snorkel perfectly. Everybody should be very pleased. Enjoy yourselves!
