Astley's: No. 2 Mixture 50g Pipe Tobacco

Astley's began as tobacconist located in the upscale shopping district of Jerym Street in London. They contracted pipe makers such as Dunhill, James Upshall, L&JS, and Bill Taylor of Ashton Pipes to make pipes for them, while they mixed fine tobaccos. Astley's Mixture No. 2 is a balanced blend of Red and Gold Virginias elevated with Perique.

Someone should tell you this is heavily cased with some kind of nausea producing stuff. Opened the tin and threw it out. Aint gonna mess up a good pipe with this crap!

This is a Virginia forward blend with a light perique . The cut is stringy , almost a shag which many smokers enjoy . This is really nice if you want a light hit of perique.

Vinegar up front

Of the many blends I've tried, this makes the bottom of my list. I tasted little more than vinegar and was left with tongue bite. I'll jar it for a year or two to see if it improves with time. If not, it goes in the bin.

Smoked it by a very hot summer afternoon in Romania drinking agood and fresh glass of white wine. It was a terrific experience. This tobacco is for those who have the time to taste taking the requested time and coolness.
