Rajah's Court from Cornell and Diehl is a Latakia, Turkish, red Virginia, and bright Virginia flake. In the same genre as Dunhill's Durbar as sold in years' gone by in their London store when you could actually still buy tobacco there.
The description compares this to Dunhill's Durbar, I would go so far to say that the two are similar blends with different characteristics. Where Durbar is, to me at least, a bit more rounded and smooth, Rajah's Court has quite a bit more edge to it... Read More. Not at all a bad thing, just different sides of the same palette of flavors. I would recommend this to those who like the flavor and aroma of Orientals. Read Less
This is a really good blend! The Orientals are right up front and the Latakia really brings it all together for a full, complex smoke. There is a good deal of sweetness from the Virginias. Overall, the balance of this blend is perfect and the nicotin... Read Moree content is exactly what I like. I'm always so relaxed and happy when smoking this blend. First bowl from the fresh tin didn't impress. The 'Ginnies & Turks seemed too forward. Revisited it today. Oh my, what a couple weeks did for it.
A near perfect marriage of elements, with a slight edge to the Latakia. Mellow, easy on the palette.

Put me in memory of a long gone fave, Sullivan's OO blend from some 50 years ago (back in the day when your local brick & mortar tobacconist was one's sole guide through the plethora of leaves; when Balkan Sobranie was as common as Captain Black). Read Less
I popped open a 6 month old tin from my modest cellar. It doesn't appear to have any "casing" added, which I appreciate more and more. Without the added weight of the casing, the little tin was stuffed full of tobacco. The tin note is (for me) domina... Read Moreted by the (probably Izmir) Turkish, sour with hints of apple cider vinegar, but sweeter, like a sweet and sour apple. My first briar was right out of the tin. Not bad, but 15 minutes of air drying in the following bowls is preferred. The flavors have some movement. The Oriental is always present, more or less so. The Virginias and Latakia are usually in the background, sometimes moving a bit forward. The complexity lessens about half way as it balances to a pleasant English. The cut is a pretty consistent ribbon for the most part. I find it burns smooth and needs no relight. It stays on the cooler side, too. It'll help your cake, too, as it ashes nice and grey. It is a lighter English in flavor, smoke, and nic. Here's the deal. I order Izmir Turkish to add to non-aromatics, even smoking it straight. This tobacco often isn't too different than straight Izmir, often the same taste but milder because of the balance of the blend. I do think it's a little high, but I'll get it again if it's on sale and I have a hankering for it. For me it's above average, but not a very fave. 3.5 / 5.
EDIT: After finishing a jar, I can say I won't get this again. There are bulks just as good or better, and for a much better price. Read Less
I was just sitting in my garage (that's the smoking room at my house) sampling different C&D wares and came to the conclusion that I like Rajah's Court better than Star of the East Flake and Star of the East Gold.
