eeves is really proving himself to be a fine blender. Nicotine is medium which is nice to see in an American aromatic as most are usually nearly void of any nicotine. Great Christmas blend through and through. If you were hoping for a 1Q style blend repackaged as a Christmas blend then I could see how this would be disappointing, otherwise I thought this was a truly unique and tasty blend

uot;ketchup" fermented virgina smell rather than a wafty note of other aros. It smokes and tastes like a virginia tobacco, with a HINT of nutmeg or allspice, and equally leaves behind that room note. If you are not an aro fan but want something a little more seasonal, this is most likely a perfect blend for you, you really taste more of the tobacco than anything else and the flavor is more of a hint, than an actually flavor. it does sometimes need a little extra rubbing out depending on what pipe you smoke it in. if you prefer a more natural tobacco then this is most likely going to be something you love, while i do love it, would highly recommend it and tell you its a great blend and am very grateful to smoke such a well put together blend, it was not as high on my christmas blend scale like Holiday Spirit from McClellan has become.
get it ? yes ! but its not going to leave your family thinking of baking cookies or pie from the room note, nor is it like smoking a bowl of rum and coco cavendish. Read Less

on aromatic. Top notch leaves that would smoke well with out flavoring combined with light topping and no PG. The lack of PG is probably the best part of GDOY, Autumn Evening and Corn Cob Pipe and Button Nose. They smoke dry and don't bite. I get mostly Red VA earthiness with some dry woody notes from the Orientals. The DFK is barely noticeable but does provide an almost cigar like note. The black cavendish both amplifies the flavor of the individual leaves and carries the flavorings. The Rum and spices are definitely ever present but very lightly applied in a way that compliment the natural tobacco flavors. I love the room note and , it is a pretty tobacco forward aromatic. took a chance. Guess I'll have to take more. Have so far tried this in medium sized Savinelli and Ardor pipes. Both smoked well. Smoke volume is nice. The ginger, nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon descriptions are well founded, and yes, I could discern a light chocolate and rum note. But the underlying tobacco note was what held me. Very good in deed. Nice Virginia sweetness was present, as well as other notes I wasn't familiar with before this blend. The tobacco burned well after the first charring light. I would urge caution regarding too vigorous tamping as it compacted too much for me in the first pipe full. The second time around I used a lighter hand with much better results. Burns quite cleanly down the bowl. Left little more moisture at the bottom than I have found in most pure Virginia or Virginia blends. It does require the usual light puffing associated with Viginias as the heat component in the bole is similar. So, nice and spicy, great tobacco taste, a touch of flavors beyond the tobacco and great burning qualities. If your tastes run to Virginia components and you like a bit of spice, don't hesitate a minute longer. If you like aromatics but have shied away from Virginias, same rule applies. On second though, maybe you should wait a few days to order. I need to get a few more cans to cellar. Read Less

oke. As others have noted, the aromatic side of this offering is very light, almost absent. On the other hand, the tobaccos are excellent as to be expected from C&D. The Virginia is front and center to my taste. The nicotine is not punchy, but it will certainly present itself quickly! As for Christmas, I think the older Jolly Old St Nicholas is more in line with spices of the holidays. Great smoke, just not so Christmas invoking to my mind. Read Less

While not terrible I found this to be a bit underwhelming. For starters it was quite dry out of the tin, and my first bowl burned through very quickly. It's gotten a bit better since then, but still not great.

I don't do a whole lot of aromatics, but I do like this. The Dark Fired Kentucky comes through like a champ. Has a great spice to this that makes you want to come back for another bowl. A good subtle smoke and worth a try.

does not always mean it will burn on the warmer side, but unfortunately this one does. I have yet to attempt revitalize it with some moisture and try it again but as it stands, these is my findings.
