With a new corn cob I smoked 80% of the tin before writing this review English tobacco is so much more than Latakia! A very complex blend fit for a King. One of the few blends I could smoke with one light no second light all the way to the bottom of a... Read More

I love the fact that the Latakia is lightly used and the taste is very cohesive. The tobaccos used are of excellent quality. This blend is Virginia forward with the Perique in second position. The Black Cavendish is used to smooth out the blend and t... Read More
he Burley is not noticeable. So basically,
I would call this a light Vaper that is smoothed out by the other components. It is cool smoking and very delicious. It burns to ash and produces an average amount of smoke. This is my second favorite of the line, next to Blairgowie. I find both
Red Lion and Blairgowie to be exceptional and have been smoking them exclusively for the past couple of weeks. Read Less

I like to refer to this blend as "athletic" because it achieves a somewhat Oriental taste component without actually having that component. This is a Virginia-forward, creamy blend that burns perhaps a bit fast. The Latakia keeps the sweetness in che... Read More
ck and the burn in check as well. What I get is a sweet and smokey, and floral, and even somewhat herbal experience from this blend. It is fascinating to see how the Virginia and Latakia play off one another. Read Less

A great blend if you prefer mild english's - I just think it is TOO mild for my tastes. A small complaint is how dry it was straight out of the tin. The quality is there though

Product: Drucquer & Sons Red Lion 100g
A classy blend in the light English style. The strength of the blend reaches just above the middle of the light-to-medium range, but the flavor intensity is a bit above that without cracking the medium threshold. The Latakia is apparent, but restra... Read More
ined--this blend is more about the other tobaccos and how they all cooperate. As an English-style blend, Red Lion is more for those who prefer a softer touch of Latakia and a sweeter taste overall. I notice more the combination of Virginia, Burley, and Black Cavendish tobaccos. Taken all together this is an easy-going, very pleasant smoke that can be smoked at anytime and anywhere. . Read Less

This is a wonderful blend, beautifully balanced yet nuanced. I started cycling through the Drucquer & Sons blends with Blairgowrie, which now having had more experience with the line, I'm going to re-visit. Second try was with Inns of Court, wh... Read More
ich I found to be an excellent all day smoke. First pipe of the the day is now Inns of Court followed by Red Lion, with it's wonderful aroma and smooth flavor profile. I just jarred a tin of Trafalgar, and am looking forward to where that takes me. Each of the blends thus far has done exactly what Mr. Pease referred to in an article I found elsewhere - once the tin is cracked, allowing the air and microbes to do their work, subtle changes continue to occur right up to the last pipeful. The mixtures tried have all smoked better for me after a little airing - I'll put an ample amount out to dry, and once the pipe is loaded, the rest goes back in the jar to "get happy" with the remaining mixture. So far, this line is outstanding! Read Less
