Just about perfection

Product: Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation Morning Blend Bulk
This is a very satisfying pipe tobacco. It’s excellent in the AM and it’s still excellent at noon. It’s very reliable to load but burns a little fast. This isn’t bad for me personally as I use this in the morning and at lunch and I don’t want a 30 mi... Read More
nute pipe. I’m not retired yet. Then I’ll be able to smoke the rough cut ribbons and hard bars all day long (can’t wait!). Until then there is this delicious, subtly topped, satisfying tobacco to keep me going. Great job Stokkebye! Read Less
Brown Sugar & Bourbon

Wow. I don’t smoke many aromatics as I much prefer unmolested English, Burley and VA flakes, but this... this will be added to my rotation. This has such a smooth, mellow flavored quality that preserves the toasted grain nuance of the burley-forwar... Read More
d mixture. The bourbon is right behind the burley and is woody with a brown sugar sweetness. Oh yes... this is SWEET and it leaves a natural sweet finish in the mouth afterwards. There’s a hint of a vanillaesq note here and there, but certainly not a nuance that pushes this into a vanilla flavored mixture, it compliments the bourbon. Absolutely no bite whatsoever on my sensitive tongue, and it smokes relatively cool for what it is. The room note is amazing, as the Mrs remarked that she liked the sweet smell of it, whereas she normally remarks that my typical English reminds her of a horse stable. To me, and for those that have visited whiskey distilleries, you’ll definitely pick up an oak like whiskey cask smell in the room. I really like the cut of this; it’s a touch larger than shag and allows for a nice pack and burn. I really can’t find much wrong with this. It’s mildly flavored and doesn’t overwhelm, and perhaps the only fault that I can find is just that... it lacks nicotine. I’d say it’s about 1 outta 5 on the nic scale, which is actually a good thing for some. This is quite simply a light, mellow, sweet and very well developed flavorful smoke. Well done, Erik. Read Less
My favorite mixture

Product: Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation Morning Blend Bulk
This mixture is mellow and mild with a subtle hint of vanilla. The bourbon flavor is there but it is illusive. The mixture doesn't bite at all and smokes down to a dry gray ash rather than a black goopy mess as some aromatics do.
Surprisingly good

It is cut very thin, almost like a shag. Moisture is perfect for immediate smoking. It contains good quality tobacco, it has enough strength but most of all I like the discreet topping. You can feel notes of bourbon, a discreet vanilla and something s... Read More
lightly sweet and spicy. The taste of tobacco is not covered and goes perfectly with the added flavors. I was looking for a very weakly flavored tobacco because at some point you feel the need for a variation in rotation. Morning blend does this very well. Read Less

I didn't expect too much from this blend. I got it during a round of 1oz sampler splurges..splurged... it's a lightly sweet mild aromatic that isn't offensive by any standards... I dunno what the toppings are... bourbon, sugar, honey, vanilla? I dun... Read More

This is a superior, high quality aromatic that is, like it's advertised, perfect in the morning with a cup of coffee. It's one of my go-to blends for that time of day.

I only started smoking a pipe a few months ago (after nearly 2 decades of various other tobacco and nicotine intake; mostly cigarettes) so I do not have the best palette or much experience to draw on. However, I can say that this seems to possibly be... Read More
my favorite aromatic out of the very few that I've tried (Autumn Evening, 1/2 & 1/2, Crème Brule, and possibly a couple others that I can't think of at the moment). I've stuck mostly to non-aromatics and still don't know what types of blends are my favorites.
Anyways, this particular aro stands out from the rest. Firstly, because it manages to be a "full-on" aromatic but without being overpowering. It is not so lightly aromatic that you might question whether there is a flavoring (like Plum Pudding, or Carter Hall) but is also not overpowered by the flavor. Some folks say 1/2 and 1/2 accomplishes this level of flavoring, and although I like it very much, it is a very strongly flavored tobacco for me. Autumn Evening and Creme Brule are even more strongly flavored.
This tobacco stands out to me in that I absolutely taste the flavor; which comes through as sweet, vanilla, and honey. I don't taste the bourbon at all, but maybe smell it ever so slightly. The topping notes blend in with the taste of the Virginia, which is the dominating tobacco here. There are some notes from the burley, but they are harder to pick out; the Burley does obviously balance out the way that the blend smokes however, as I can rarely smoke a predominantly VA without getting tongue bite.
Overall I like it. Read Less
