For John Cotton's Double Pressed Burley, sweet Virginias, Burley, a touch of Dark-Fired Kentucky are blended together before being pressed and sliced into flakes. Afterward, the flakes are tumbled out into chunky ribbons, given some time to breathe before being placed in a mold and re-pressed to form a thick crumble cake. Such a process allows the flavors to become richer and deeper, resulting in a well-balanced Burley blend.
