t I've lost count searching for that ONE blend that surpasses all others, one that becomes an every day smoke and can be an all day smoke...admit it, we all do.
I like many aromatics, mostly because my wife can tolerate them without whining about the smell, but finding one that tastes good, burns well, doesn't bite, and doesn't offend any non-smokers (except the militant ones, and there's no pleasing those) can be a chore.

I also get a hint of something fruity, like a mix of green apple and blackberry, especially in the aftertaste and tin note. Like all MB blends, you're gonna get "Mac Bite" if you push it too hard, but that simply encourages a better cadence. Dry it a little, light it well, sip it slow, and there's great enjoyment to be had. Furthermore, the aging potential—unlike some aromatics with very little—is great. wafts from the package and teases your nose with hints of the fantastic flavor you're about to enjoy. I'm reminded of a dark chocolate truffle covered with cacao powder in the aroma, so decadent I'm tempted to taste it. Upon lighting I found this to be one of the smoothest and tastiest tobaccos in the Aromatic category that I've tried thus far. With strong notes of rich dark chocolate dominating the palate and subtle vanilla undertones soothing forth within each puff of the smooth tobacco profile. I have a few tobaccos in my rotation but this one has been my go to for smoking out and about, not only for the tasty and reliable flavor, but also for the complements I get on the room note! The nicotine is quite mild as well so you can load bowl after bowl no problem.
I give each pinch from the tin a little time to dry out, maybe 0.5-1hr under a ceiling fan, then smoke it slow and steady. She plays well with both filter and non filter pipes, not to mention you'll be hard pressed to get a bite as long as you let it dry a bit.
This is such a good smoke, and blends so well with other tobaccos, I've decided it will be the first blend I bulk up on to stock my cellar with! Read Less

This is my favourite daytime smoke with a cup of strong Colombian coffee. It's mild and moreish with no bite if you smoke it calmy. Delicately aromatic, with hints of cocoa and vanilla and a lovely citrus Golden Virginia hint throughout. hat has a pleasant room note and still leaves me satisfied that I’m smoking actual tobacco rather than heavy flavoring and preservatives. That’s where I feel Mac Barens 7 Seas Regular hits the spot. It no doubt and aromatic but is in no way goopy, nor does it taste like hot air. The dark chocolate definitely comes to the forefront in this wonderfully mild blend. I also get kind of a caramel and almost coffee like taste. To my palate it’s like smoking a mildly sweet mocha. I normally smoke Missouri Meerschaum pipes of various sizes and it performs nicely in all. I smoke this blend all hours of the day and night and it satisfies each time. As a smokeless tobacco user for most of my life I’m not a light weight when it comes to nicotine, but I’m not really after a big nic hit when I smoke my pipe. I enjoy all the nostalgia that comes with smoking a pipe especially in the evening. Mac Barens 7 Seas Regular is the first blend I reach for. It’s nice because the flavor is there from beginning to the end of the bowl and I don’t really have to chase it to achieve that flavor. I decided to do the Bremen Piper Comparison: I put the tobaks side by side: the CBO has lighter flakes of tobak, the Seven Seas’ light tobak is more reddish, and it’s darker flakes are more prevalent and a slightly deeper brown. Where CBO smells wonderfully prune-y, the Seven Seas has an even stronger prune like fragrance AND a strong scent of actual vanilla. I loaded two pipes, one with CapBlackWhite and one with Seven Seas Regular and proceeded to smoke both of them, alternating pipes as they went out, not relighting ever. I started with the Seven Seas and was very delighted with it: it’s fragrance notes are more pronounced than the CBO. They both have burning notes and actual tongue taste of chocolate, but the CBO has a slight tang to it that the Seven Seas does not.
My conclusion was thus: CBO was the cute, fit, fun, and slightly feisty brunette that I had been hanging out with; and then she invited me home and I met her older sister, Seven Seas Regular, also a brunette, who was a little taller, more full of figure, more elegant, slightly more refined with just a touch of unconscious glamour: and just when I felt like I was tottering on the edge of an irrevocable choice, they spoke in unison, almost in harmony “You don’t have to chose between us. omplex, I get hints of dark chocolate and vanilla. After the first light the taste slowly dissolves into straight tobacco, which I don't mind. This is a great beginner smoke, and it's very enjoyable. other blends I've not tried. Upon opening the 7 Seas I was faced with what seemed to be a tin 2/3rds full, and the usual neatly folded paper liner not looking so neat. I placed the tobacco on my food scale and what I got was 2.2oz instead of the 3.5oz. I thought no biggie anything made by man is subject to flaw, however when I called the company to see if maybe there was a error on the packing line that they were aware of, or possibly they would offer some kind of explanation, or compensation, I could not reach a live person to talk to just a customer service reps answering machine. No return phone call. I did contact Smoking pipes and got right through to a gentleman and asked him if they had any reports of something like this that has happened and he kindly explained that he hasn't heard of anything, which was good. Now if the paper lining in the tin didn't looked worked over I might have just smoked the tobacco and moved on. But I discarded the whole tin. Don't get me wrong I love this blend and many others from this manufacturer I just wish their customer care was a little more on point. Had a pipe in my teeth since my late teens and lets say that was over 20 yrs ago. Also like to add that after discovering Smokeing pipes I won't buy elsewhere now unless I happen in to a brick motor. Love my new Savinelli's and Petersons and at a fraction of the cost I've been a custom to paying in the past and the customer care here is great! Read Less

Has a great room note. Needs a bit of drying and will burn hot and bite if not smoked very slowly like most Mac Baren blends. Requires a few re lights. Not perfect but a solid smoke.

nearly gave it away during Christmas to my cousin. I came home that night, unwanted tin in hand, and set out a pile to dry. When I woke up in the morning, the tobacco was dry but not crispy. This is the moment I realized I can enjoy a regular aromatic. The tin note is vanilla caramel heaven with a side of chocolate. The smoke is rich with these flavors, and when I smoke it in my car I leave the window cracked only slightly so I can enjoy the room note without smoking myself out. Drying out the tobacco for several hours yields a smoke with little to no steam or moisture at the bottom of the bowl. My only complaint is that it doesn't satisfy me with nicotine, but I can forgo that pleasure for a sensory delight here and there. Delightful. Read Less

t absolutely no taste aside from hot air. Smokingpipes graciously sent me fresh tin and I chalked it off as simply a bad batch. New tin, same deal. No taste, barely perceptible aroma inside the tin. Maybe I happened across a bad lot but I'm not impressed at all. The only thing I can say is that it does burn well and has no bite, just no flavor whatsoever. Not sure what went wrong, was expecting better from Mac Baren. Waste of money and tobacco.
Update: Decanted this in a glass container for about 4 months. Became much better and flavorful. It was ok but never rose above marginal. I guess the name refers to the moisture content, or rather PG amount. Maybe I just got a bad impression but I'll sail other seas when it comes to aromatics from now on. Read Less

to deliver in the flavor department. This isn't the case 7 Seas Regular. It presents a smell of chocolate, with hints of vanilla and citrus in the background. When fired up, the flavors are consistent with the tin aroma, but in a very mild and pleasant way. There is no bashing of the taste buds here, and anyone who smokes it around non-pipers, will receive compliments on how nice it smells. The only reason I give it four and a half stars is that it is a bit wet, and requires a touch of air-drying, to prevent the infamous "Mac Baren bite" so many of us are familiar with.
