Best darn Burley I've ever smoked, and I've smoked plenty! If the tin note doesn't bowl you over with drooling anticipation, then I dare say you are a lost cause. I thought I was completely satisfied with Milan's Hillman blend. Then I saw this and pulled the big trigger. Then I let it sit while I finished the Hillman. As soon as I popped open this tin, I was smacking myself in the head. This stuff is rich tasting all the way to the bottom of the bowl. One light kept it going with minimal puffing. This is a great blend. It has an incredible room note and smokes really smooth with no bite at all. The cocoa flavor is most evident in the first third after which the nuttiness of the burley dominates with notes of walnut, pecan, coffee and a cakey sort of sweetness that is mild and very balanced.

This stuff isn’t a super nuanced, heady, complicated smoke. It’s a really no-nonsense-full-time-all-day-every-day smoke. It’s got like 3 flavors in the whole bowl but they’re delicious and really well defined. It’s a perfect smoke for when you don’t want to pay attention to your bowl and don’t want other people to pay attention to your bowl beyond saying, “That smells nice.”

It should be a bulk blend, I really sincerely believe that is this blend’s place. I won’t get another tin as a limited release, I like to reserve those spots in the shopping cart for stuff that is exceptional, and this is exceptional only in how incredibly normal it is. The tin was so tightly sealed it was tough to open. Upon succeeding, I was greeted by a very pleasant aroma, I’d say tempting. The broken flake isn’t overdone and loading and packing a bowl was pretty easy. After a charring light and quick tamp, the relight was easy and sustainable. Moisture content is spot on. I’m not into aromatics in general and this one barely gets to that level. It’s a very tasty and pleasant smoke in a tried and true MM General that I had made to rder with no finish…rough cob. It was clean for this trial and had a fresh filter. The flavor and aroma are consistent from top to bottom with no relights needed. It left the pipe smelling good and was easy to empty after I finished a bowl. I’m well into this tin and take it along for my frequent one hour drives through the mountains. The blend in combination with this one of a kind cob is close to perfect. I like Burley blends and this one is exceptional in my opinion…i’ll try to keep a tin or three on hand. 2022 version, Tin 1513 of 5000 has notes of dark chocolate and mild vanilla. Tobacco is a mix of brown, dark brown and tan ready rub. Some larger pieces may need a little rubbing. Moisture is ok but could probably use a little drying. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild, with notes of chocolate, which hangs out in the background. I smelled vanilla in the tin note but couldn't detect in taste. Taste is mild to medium and consistent, with notes of very wood, musty vegetation, bitter dryness, leather, molasses, cocoa, nuts, mildly spicy, toasted bread, earth, mildly grassy, a semi-sweet background note, and a peppery retro. Burley is leading with Virginia and Flavoring mildly supporting. Room note is pleasant, and aftertaste is great....Read More
