This excellent plug tobacco comprises selected Virginia leaf from Africa and Brazil blended with Burley leaf from Malawi. The tobaccos are lightly cased before drying and pressing and are then heated and stored for two weeks before cutting. The result is a full bodied yet fruity blend; Peterson's Perfect Plug is sure to appeal to the experienced pipe smoker.

Great tin note. Dense and rich looking, looks deliver great results. Many said it was hard to or difficult to cut, but, it is very worth it. Slice it thin and let it breathe for an hour or so and enjoy.
Not a huge plug fan to begin with, too much work. But this was crazy. The absolute hardest to cut plug I have ever experienced. Wow. Hence the three stars. The leaf itself is 5 Stars.

Burns to a silvery ash with only the smallest dottle left. Burns cool, and dry. Slightly sweet, more savory. A satisfying smoke for sure.
My tin had aged a few years after I bought it before smoking, so maybe it's my fault the plug was so hard. But, I simply couldn't cut it with a knife... just was able to shave the edges. I set it aside in a mason jar out of frustration. When I went back to it I just started breaking it apart, the wrong way so I have large leafs. Then, I just chopped up the individual leafs. I found this an enjoyable smoke as well. The large cutting lightened the blend just a tad, and at least to my palate, improved the smoke. In any case, the leaf itself, and the blend, is good. But there's a bit of prep work that I find to be an annoyance personally. Have a good sharp knife! Read Less

A very dark brown, almost black, cube-shaped plug, sealed in cellophane and vacuum packed in a common round tobacco tin. Like all plugs, it’s a chore to get it ready for smoking. Lighting is quite difficult, but once properly lit you are rewarded with a nice, cool, steady and very slow burn, terminating into dry white ash, and never leading to any kind of tongue bite.
In my perception this mixture lies somewhere in between an Aromatic and a strong Danish Mixture. It’s a deep digging, powerful mixture with a natural Virginia and Burley tobacco taste in its base. There is a fruity casing, though. I can detect citrus fruit, plum or raisin, and some indefinable flavours. A layer of sweet topping accompanies you throughout the bowl. It is about the highest acceptable level for me, in both aspects, fruit casing and sweet topping.
“3P’s”, as it’s called in short form, or “Peterson’s Perfect Plug” in its long form, is a recommendable, heavy, tasty mixture, no doubt, there is just too much unmerited fuss about it. However, I gather it would be even better without casing and topping. It was an interesting try, but I will not buy it again. Read Less
