Danish Estates: Kai Nielsen Smooth Bent Egg
Product Number: 004-001-5960
Kai Nielsens are all made from briar that has been aged for a minimum of five years, and often more than seven, but his choices of top grade materials doesn't stop there. For his bits, Kai often seeks out German vulcanite, which he feels doesn't oxidize as readily as the English variety, though this piece is made of acrylic, and he always uses a chamfered, Teflon tenon. Kai manages to subtly shape his pipes in such a manner that they stand out a bit from the herd, while still adhering to a rather conservative Danish neoclassicism. Personally, I am so smitten with this bent egg that I am contemplating asking it over to see my sketches.
