Much in the spirit of the immortal Will Rogers, who (clearly) never met me, I have never met a S. Bang I didn't like (OK, to be more accurate, didn't love). While the dynamic duo of Ulf Noltensmeier & Per Hansen appear to possess a near superhuman ability to absolutely nail every shape they take a fancy to, to my mind, their spheres are peerless. My reaction to this unique interpretation of the bent Ball, much like trying to communicate the cascade of sensations which occur on a high altitude jump to someone who has never parachuted, is very hard to verbalize, but "Ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod, dearsweetgod" comes pretty close.
Gazing at the bowl from the side vantages, reveals the voluptuous sphere which I have adored from the start, complete with a pair of subtle cheeks at the transition of the shank onto the body. The overarching composition, however, features both a sleekness and sense of implied momentum which I have never encountered in a S. Bang. While we're at "never say 'never'". a softly undulating, asymmetrical, unrepentantly organic rim, and a poignant plateau on the same that might make even Tokutomi smile? Please give this masterpiece a fine home, and quickly. The temptation is killing me.--R. 'Bear' Graves
