Danish Estates: Tom Eltang Smooth Nautilus (Snail) (2007)

Product Number: 004-001-6502

While Tom Eltang has produced a few of the Nautilus shapes we think of when imagining the shape, this one offers up something a bit different. Some say that Bo Nordh designed the shape, but Bo would say that nature did. I've even seen some really wonderful old early-twentieth-century French briars that are of the shape, but Tom does something different here. Instead of inserting the "tail" of the bowl into the back, this offering creates a seamless and fluid bridge connecting the base with the rim, while a brass ring reinforces the area his military-mount tapered stem securely calls home.
