This is an iconic shape from Per and Ulf of S. Bang. If I need to say any more than that, you're probably looking at the wrong pipe. S. Bangs are counted among the top-tier collection pieces for their superb smoking qualities and one-of-a-kind craftsmanship. This slight pinch to the flanks, the subtle elongation of the fore and aft, the lifting heel, the delicate upward turn to the shank... as far as shaping goes, this bent Apple hits the mark on all fronts. As it does in grain orientation: a cross-cut pattern beautiful enough to set the standard for how birdseye and crossgrain should be handled. Period. Unsmoked.
