Danish Estates: Tom Eltang Smooth Bent Dublin (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-18521
Tom Eltang's bent Dublin renditions aren't typically quite like this one. The carver's forms of this nature tend to be flourishing and fairly sinuous, defined by a singular, sweeping line all along the underside from bit to rim. This pipe sees the Danish artisan taking a sleek, streamlined approach, keeping things low and forward, the pipe's tightly-canted bowl giving way to a firm, crisp heel, guiding the eye to its crisp-lined underside, the likes of which exhibit just a touch of light undulation as the eye travels to meet the stem base. The shaping seems to evoke a sense of Art Deco-ness in its angularity, and the whole of it is positively charming in hand. Finished in one of Tom's stunning contrast finishes, there's plenty of flame and birdseye highlighted to go around. It's presented here in unsmoked condition, with some small scratches on the bowl's surface to note.
