Danish Estates: Emil Chonowitsch Handcut Smooth Bent Billiard (14)

Product Number: 004-001-14417

Emil Chonowitsch, father of Jess Chonowitsch, got his start under Poul Rasmussen, and his pipes tended toward a sleek, minimalist, traditional style. In particular, he made a number of Billiards, and I have only seen a handful of bent shapes — though none of the sweeping lines and plump-based bowl of this bent Billiard, with its striking profile. Deep of chamber and utterly beautiful of form, it's a piece that shows off some of Emil's skill all around. Condition is good here, with just a few toothmarks and some minor rim darkening.
