Danish Estates: Lasse Skovgaard Smooth Bent Dublin (3)
Product Number: 004-001-14493
Lasse Skovgaard has a number of signature shaping cues: many of his pieces display a continuous sense of curvature to the underside, for example, or taking the typically convex curve of the domed rim and lending it an asymmetrical, wavy disposition. As you can see, neither of these cues are on display here with this bent Dublin, and yet there's still something of an effortless sense of energy to it. It boast a strong upward gesture to the posture of the bowl, and the tightly-pinched transition leads effortlessly the rounded, muscular shank and gently downturned saddle stem. In true Skovgaard form of course, there's quite a wealth of beautifully accentuated, feathery flame around the bowl, and likewise a plethora of birdseye at the broad rim. Only a little chamber carbonizing and unevenness; otherwise condition is good.- Daniel Bumgardner
