Danish Estates: Jess Chonowitsch Sandblasted Dublin with Silver

Product Number: 004-001-15777

Jess Chonowitsch is a living legend in the world of pipemaking, known for his meticulous eye for proportions and clean, minimalist lines as well as inspiring generations of carvers no matter the style or school. He initially developed his skills under the tutelage of iconic carvers like Poul Rasmussen and Sixten Ivarsson, eventually going on to start his own workshop with his father Emil in 1970. Jess has proven over the course of his storied career that he's a master of the Danish classic school, imparting his vast well of knowledge into every single piece he creates.

This straight Dublin is quintessential Jess, featuring a touch of extra firmness to the already muscular bowl, as well as the slightest hint of forward cant, affording a touch of implied motion and momentum to its streamlined form. The perfectly executed, crisp sandblast displays endless stacks of mesmerizing ring grain, its dark palette contrasted beautifully by a generous band of sterling silver. The smooth polished rim has been stained a rich chestnut color, complementing the cumberland mouthpiece handsomely. Other than some minor rim darkening, this magnificent piece is in great condition.
