Danish Estates: Sven Knudsen Dantonian Smooth Bent Apple (Unsmoked)

Product Number: 004-001-16116

Having worked alongside Sixten Ivarsson and Poul Rasmussen during the early stages of the Danish artisan pipemaking moving, Sven Knudsen is one of the Danish greats and has had a tremendous impact on later generations, notably his younger brother, Teddy Knudsen, and Hans "Former" Nielsen. He was also the first manager of the W.Ø.Larsen pipe shop. Sven's pipes don't come through the estate market too often, and finding this piece unsmoked is even more of a delightful rarity. Shape-wise, it's a gorgeously plump bent Apple, low-set of waistline and transition while the oval shank accentuates the bowl's rotund disposition. The grain is especially choice here; this isn't a piece to pass on by any discerning collector of Danish pipes.
