Danish Estates: Stanwell Royal Briar (186) (Regd. No.) (1948-1960s)
Product Number: 004-001-16716
What immediately stood out to me with this older Stanwell was its "186" stamp. That number usually corresponds to a substantial, full-bodied bent Egg design within the marque's shape chart, here though, the form is the Sixten Ivarsson designed "86" bent Pot, the "1" appearing to have been mistakingly applied. It features a wide chambered, low-slung Pot bowl paired to a streamlined, flattened arrangement of shank and gently downturned saddle stem. This vintage offering is in fair condition, as there's some minor rim charring, mild chamber carbonizing, scraping along the top of the chamber, and handling marks around the stummel. There's also some light oxidation, minor tooth marks, and the stem logo was buffed off. It's been priced accordingly though.- Jeffery Sitts
