Danish Estates: Peter Stokkebye Smooth Bent Brandy (E) (Unsmoked)

Product Number: 004-001-16542

Peter Stokkebye pipes were made by Jørgen Larsen, a Danish carver with extraordinary skills but some problems with allergies. Larsen became allergic to briar dust and had to give up pipemaking, though he started up again and quit again. It must have been frustrating, as the pipes he created for the Stokkebye brand are are highly sought by collectors, and it's pretty easy to see why when viewing this example. With a Brandy bowl oriented for maximizing some extraordinarily tight vertical grain remaining consistent around the bowl except for an area at the far side that washed out a bit, though is certainly far from unsightly. A firm and resolute pipe from a previous generation of Stokkebye products, this piece is unsmoked.
