Danish Estates: Winslow Flamenco Smooth Freehand with Silver (059) (9mm) (Unsmoked)
Product Number: 004-001-16771
I can't say for certain why this Poul Winslow pipe has "Flamenco" stamped on it, but just from looking at it I can readily see why someone might be compelled to break out into song and dance. It's an impressive piece all around from the Danish carver in terms of shaping, finish, and accent work. The bowl is noticeably floral in its shaping, coming to a slight point at the rim's fore while the base features some added plumpness and subtle cheeking near the transition. The stummel's dressed in a two tone stain with the shank and two panels along the bowl's fore wearing a warm walnut stain while the rest of it wears a dark, smoky one. The color pairing works incredibly well, creating the image of a talon along the bowl's fore as both stains play off each other perfectly. It's then accented by a bright band of sterling silver along the shank end, followed by an acrylic ferrule of fiery amber hues.- Jeffery Sitts
