Danish Estates: Bjorn Thurmann Sandblasted Brandy
Product Number: 004-001-17193
An independent pipemaker since 1976, Bjorn Thurmann unfortunately passed away a few years ago, but his pipes were all handmade in Copenhagen, where he worked as a tobacconist and pipemaker since he was seven years old in his parents' tobacco shop. This Brandy offering features a strong degree of taper from the high-set rim towards the bowl's beefy, low-set waistline. The slightly elongated transition gives the bowl some implied forward momentum while the mouthpiece continues the shank's round shaping before quickly tapering as it works it way towards the button. The low-profile sandblast has brought out a lively array of wavy grain and offers some subtle texture to enjoy in hand.- Jeffery Sitts
