Danish Estates: Preben Holm Crown Matt Smooth Freehand Sitter

Product Number: 004-001-17249

Unusual in Danish Fancy Freehands, this Preben Holm is a firm sitter, and common in Preben Holm pipes, it appears to have been carved to maximize the grain of the burl, all while maintaining the famous Preben Holm floral aesthetic in a striking merger of the Dublin and Cherrywood shapes. Preben enjoyed early success, instrumental in the popularity of Danish Freehands that swept the world in the 1960s, and running his own factory of 45 employees by the time he was 22 years old. Under the Ben Wade brand, his pipes became enormously popular in the U.S. Unfortunately, his life and success burned brightly and quickly, and he passed away at age 42. Luckily for us, his legacy lives on through his pipes with this Freehand being an excellent representation of his influential style.
