Danish Estates: Kai Nielsen Smooth Bent Brandy with Bamboo (VVVV)

Product Number: 004-001-18415

One of Kai Nielsen's more playful creations, this bent Brandy is a unique take on the classic shape and is fairly traditional but features some unique elements that set it apart from others. The bowl has an Egg-like plumpness to its shaping and is oriented at a slight backwards cant, subtly tapering from its chubby flanks upward toward the gently rounded rim. A pedestal-style heel spur sits underneath the transition and enables this piece to sit relatively well, resting softly on the stem's button. The shank has been extended by two pale knuckles of bamboo and is positioned between a cumberland accent band and a complementary brindled vulcanite mouthpiece. The bowl displays a lively array of windswept flame grain underneath the warm chestnut stain. A beautiful piece all around.
