Danish Estates: Peter Heding Partially Rusticated Sitter with Boxwood (Silver)
Product Number: 004-001-18417
Fitting well into Peter Heding's portfolio of organically inspired designs, this sitter shape is undeniably impressive and a remarkable piece of craftsmanship. The bowl is Acorn-esque in its shaping, gradually tapering from its high-set waistline down toward the base before expanding at the pedestal-style heel spur underneath. It sits sturdily upright on flat surfaces, the bowl canted forward slightly and topped with a smooth rim, revealing a sea of swirling birdseye and matching the protruding foot's surface. The transition sits tucked away under the bowl's bulging waistline before leading to a high-kicking shank and stem combination out back, contributing to the form's perfect balance and adding to its already striking silhouette. Heding has finished the stummel in a crisp, dimpled rustication, providing a pleasant tactile experience in hand. A pale ring of boxwood graces the shank end, standing out in stark contrast against the rest of the piece's jet-black color palette while the domed stem base echoes the bowl's chubbiness.- Jeffery Sitts
