Danish Estates: Tonni Nielsen Partially Rusticated Horn with Boxwood (Viking) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-17874

The shape of this Horn from Tonni Nielsen is in line with others we've seen from him — the shank somewhat rounded while the bowl flares outward in a dramatic forward cant, further defined by a flattened underside that poises ridgelines at the bowl's fore. Particularly distinct of this Viking-grade rendition (Nielsen's most prestigious designation), though, is the partial rusticated finish — the densely textured indentations carved in a pattern that calls to mind the Nautilus shape, spiraling inward along the shank. It's a creative finishing touch, allowing the partial finish to evoke the look of another shape, and this piece is further commended by a stem comprised of boxwood at the base and cumberland.
